RES has announced a change in the management of its Offshore business, with Jim Sandon taking on the leadership of the business following Chris Morgan’s planned departure at the end of October.
Joining the offshore team at RES in 1999 in its earliest days, Jim has been a key part of the growth of the business undertaking roles in development, engineering and project management before being appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2010. He will be supported in his new role by Andy Beetham, Commercial Manager, who has been with the business since 2010.
Ian Mays, Group CEO at RES commented:
“Over his 30 years with the company, Chris has made a huge contribution to the growth and development of RES and has had a key role in creating the leading international business we have today. He will of course be greatly missed when he retires from RES at the end of the month. I am, however, confident that Jim will excel in his new role in leading our offshore activities and in further developing this business over the coming years.”
Jim Sandon, COO, Offshore added:
“Despite challenging conditions affecting the whole offshore market, RES’ Offshore business has continued to deliver on significant projects, has won exciting new contracts here and abroad, and has created a number of new opportunities. We are currently recruiting to support the delivery of these opportunities. This is an exciting time to take on the reins of the Offshore business and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”
Chris Morgan outgoing CEO, Offshore commented:
“RES has always been, and I am confident will continue to be, a great company. Technically and commercially RES is innovative and world leading, attributes that have brought it success in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It is a challenging time for renewables but the long term need for low carbon generation and the prospects for renewable energy have never been stronger. I look forward to hearing of RES’ continuing success, not only in offshore wind but across the whole range of new technologies and markets.”
