RES Offshore has successfully completed its first Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) contract for the design and installation of Met Mast for the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm. Having been awarded the contract in June 2013, RES has project managed the design, fabrication and installation of the Met Mast within 12 months, completing the project handover in August this year. RES can now report that the mast has been successfully gathering data for the last 3 months for the 389MW DONG Energy and Scottish Power Renewables-owned Irish Sea project.
From the outset, an integrated design approach was taken. RES Offshore used its engineering expertise to develop the foundation design in-house and worked closely with lattice mast subcontractor, Carl C, to produce a bespoke mast. RES Offshore employed the services of GeoSea to install the Met Mast, using jack-up vessel Innovation while RES’ own specialist instrumentation engineers designed and installed the instrumentation and communication systems.
