"After receiving an official request from Ailes Marines, the National Commission for Public Debate (CNDP) has decided to organize a Public Debate for the offshore wind project in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. The Commission appointed Mr. Antoine DUBOUT as President of the Special Public Debate Commission, established for the project. The Public debate is under preparation and Ailes Marines will submit its DMO (presentation document) beginning of February. If this document is endorsed by the CNDP, the Public Debate will be held from end-March until end-July 2013. This press release does not affect the outcome of the Public Debate and the topics it concerns can be discussed during the Debate".
The consortium led by IBERDROLA and EOLE-RES begins a new environmental study campaign
The consortium led by IBERDROLA and EOLE-RES begins a new campaign of environmental follow-up studies on the site of the offshore wind farm project in the Saint Brieuc bay. This campaign will establish the initial state of the fishery resources and determine the eventual impact of the future wind farm.
Rennes / Paris / Avignon xxx January 2013 - The company Ailes Marines, created by IBERDROLA and EOLE RES to develop the offshore wind farm in the Saint Brieuc bay, announces today the beginning of an environmental study campaign. This maritime campaign conducted by In Vivo on behalf of Ailes Marines will establish the initial state of the fishery resources on the site of the wind farm project. These investigations will help quantify the initial state (species, characteristics, diversity, abundance, spatial and seasonal variability of the different species) of the following fish resources;
This campaign, which began for certain species in December 2012, will be spread over a period of 30 months. It will be supplemented by bibliographic research and investigations carried out by In Vivo with professionals from the fishing industry, in consultation with the Côtes d'Armor Committee of fisheries and marine farms.
The fishing boats of the sea-going fishermen of the Côte d'Armor Fishing Committee havebeen chartered to conduct the sampling of sea spiders, whelks and demersal fish.for In Vivoin different on site locations.
For technical reasons, the campaign concerning the bivalves was carried out in December 2012 using the Atlantic Surveyor vessel, owned by In Vivo.
This new campaign of studies is complementary to the one carried out in October 2012 by Ifremer for Ailes Marines, to assess the state of scallop resources on the site of the future wind farm. This same scallop resources evaluation campaign will be renewed in 2013 and 2014.
Since September 2012, Ailes Marines has simultaneously been carrying out other environmental studies via sea and air observations in order to establish the initial state of avifauna (birds) and marine mammals, and will continue these studies for a period of 2 years.
The data collection for the chiropters (bats) is done via recordings made by a "batbox" placed on different places along the coast, at sea (Grand Legon lighthouse) as well as on boats.
All the collected data will go towards the establishment of the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) for the offshore wind farm project in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.
This Environmental Impact Study will be the main part of the application file that will be delivered by April 2014 at the latest to the Prefecture of the Côtes-d'Armor, in order to obtain the necessary authorizations that Ailes Marines needs to begin construction of the wind farm.
