    RES Offshore has a dedicated team focused on providing project engineering throughout the development, pre-construction, construction and operational phases of offshore wind, wave and tidal projects. Long experience of turbine procurement, gained through our onshore EPC contracting role and our offshore projects, together with expertise in civil, electrical, SCADA and grid engineering enables us to bring a practical, hands-on approach to the engineering and delivery of marine energy projects.

    RES' foundation design expertise has been built on 30 years of wind farm experience in a wide range of conditions, ranging from the limestone mesas of Texas through the peat bogs of Ireland and the extreme low temperatures of Sweden. In the offshore environment RES can develop monopile and steel jacket foundations based on geotechnical data, wind and wave loading and structural dynamic constraints. The resulting preliminary designs provide key cost and feasibility drivers which are used to assess wind farm economics and to provide a basis for tendering and procurement.

    Interior and exterior design of the turbine foundation interface can be optimised using 3D modelling in order to take account of bolting access, j-tube insertions, cable pulling techniques, switchgear location, cable paths and maintenance crane location, reach and specification.


    Our experience includes all aspects of onshore and offshore cabling, electrical system and grid integration design. Cable size, location and layout can be optimised for a range of parameters from practical considerations of construction and maintenance access through to the balancing of capital cost and electrical losses and the siting of onshore and offshore substations.

    RES has in-depth knowledge of health and safety requirements, environmental constraints and mitigation measures, as well as certification and quality objectives. This knowledge underpins our engineering and project management capabilities throughout all phases of the project delivery.
